About us
The story of Digital Essence begins in the halls of an engineering school in 2010. Founders Etienne Mathé and Arnaud Berthonneau, passionate about parties and VJing, found themselves facing the complex nature of projection mapping.
Their vision for creating stunning visual displays was obstructed by the technical and creative challenges posed by existing software. Unwilling to compromise, they decided to build their own projection mapping solution that was both user-friendly and efficient, paving the way for Digital Essence.

In 2015, a successful Kickstarter campaign helped propel our vision forward. Thanks to the overwhelming support of 1,200 backers, we raised €80,000, marking the start of a vibrant community around our offerings. With this strong backing, we were able to launch the commercial version of our flagship product, HeavyM V1, in 2016.
As we’ve grown and evolved, we’ve continually listened to our community and our own vision to shape the direction of HeavyM software. This led to improve the product with many updates. We also initiate the development of complementary products such as the Olga Kit and Stak kit, both of which have further enhanced our offering.

Over the years, we have built strategic partnerships with international players to strengthen our leadership and expand our product range. Key collaborations include a close alliance with Optoma, co-creation of the Lightdrop product with the CTN Group, and developing a video media server for Waves System.
Today, our team is composed of dedicated professionals including developers, and UI/UX designers, who collaborate daily to bring our vision to life. Key figures in our company are Adrien Grosjean, our CTO, who oversees all our technological developments, and Léa Reverdy, the Product Owner of HeavyM, who excels in interface design. We believe in interdisciplinary collaboration and promote a dynamic and friendly work culture that encourages innovation.
